“The sources of poetry are in the spirit seeking completeness…”

Feeling very fulfilled this weekend – forced myself to do my taxes and plan the tail end of my UK trip, and now I’m full of smug completing-stuff goodness! Hooray!

Now, let’s not ruin the run of box-ticking, here are this week’s links…

1) I blame the heat, but I’ve been having weird dreams lately. Last night I dreamed that someone kidnapped my laundry hamper and I found it out on the highway median strip filled with grass clippings. And that’s pretty much par for the course at the moment. Anyway, to help me out… delving into the world of deeply-psychological-meets-internet-narcissistic, meet DreamJournal.net – you can record your dreams, tag them del.icio.us style, and (here’s where it gets weird) search by keyword for other people’s dreams. You can even request people interpret them for you. Just don’t blame me when every interpretation you get inevitably leads back to sex, your childhood, or both…

(And an aside: who the hell dreams about Mark Ronson? Really!)

2) A friend at work sent me this one – wonder what the Oval Office would be like if S.P ran the joint? Probably not a bit like this, but it’s good clean mouseover fun anyway…

3) Finally – I’m sure everyone on the whole planet has seen this clip of Animator vs Animation before, but it’s cute anyway…

“I have noticed that the people who are late are often so much jollier than the people who have to wait for them.”

Oops, sorry, I’m late posting again! It’s been a hectic week- what with the special iPod project and rushing to finish season 4 of Stargate Atlantis, I (shamefully) let your serve of links for this week slide. Bad liberrydwarf!

So here they are, with a big side serve of apologies. We’ll spray them with water to make them look fresh, like McDonalds garden salad…

1) I love this story. All news stories should be like this. All science should be like this (though I don’t know that Time Magazine counts as science…) This is the answer to all my prayers! Sucks to be you, exercise bike, hand me that paperback!

2) Still in the world of science, sort of… this week I did something I haven’t done since I was 19 or so (not ages and ages ago, mind you,  but still a few years) and stayed out all night. Left at 6pm, got home at 6am. And while it was awesome (and I didn’t drink, I drove) I do think that maybe my task performance wasn’t great after a big night out. Probably would have been worse if I had been drinking. And that sort of thing could  really ruin my life… fortunately, Auntie Google will save me!

3) Finally, YoutTube this week comes from a colleague at work. We’re doing this “learn new web stuff” course, part of which is YouTube, and we’ve got an unofficial challenge going on to find the weirdest thing on there to share with the class. I don’t know if this would get my pick for weirdest, but it is a little crazy. All I can say is it’s great to be a fan, and the groom in question can’t argue he didn’t know what he was getting himself into three years from now…

“A thing of beauty is a joy forever”

I got it, I got it! My shiny pretty new iPod Touch is here! *Purrs* I think I’m in love again… Any suggestions for what I should name it? (Him? Is naming an iPod dumb? Maybe don’t answer that…)

Not actually my Touch - from Flickr c/o chrisdejabet, but you get the idea...

Not actually my Touch - from Flickr c/o chrisdejabet, but you get the idea...

I’m not quite confident enough to blog-post on it yet (maybe next week) but I did surf for this week’s links on there: here they are in all their tiny wireless glory, smelling faintly of peas…* Enjoy!

1) Found another new web-comic with a work-day twist… take a look at Doug Savage’s post-it note** cartoon series “Savage Chickens”

2) Gross food Web 2.0 style – everyone’s a shuddering contributor at the Flickr Gross Supermarket Food Pool… hey, even I’ve seen one or two things there I know are down at my local supermarket! No “Southern Suprise Potted Possum Sauce”, to be sure, but one or two things…

3) My dad runs a writers group in his small country town. Well, rules with an Ivan-the-Terrible-esque iron fist might be more correct, but run it he does. This month he wants them to free-write poetry. After he sees what might be, courtesy of VeryBadPoetry.com, he might just change his mind…

*bad iPod joke…

** Sticky-note for you US types…

“It is neither good nor bad, but thinking makes it so.”

Plusses this week – I get out of night shifts for the rest of the year. I get my iPod Touch next week (for free! Read ’em and weep!) I read Angus Wells’ “Godwars” trilogy and it was awesome!

Minuses – it’s hot. My dog won’t play with other dogs at the dog park and I feel like a failure. The production company who makes the Horatio Hornblower movies isn’t planning to make any more.

So it all kinda balances out, doesn’t it? September and October are a bit like that!

Links are below (and all are plusses, I promise!) Enjoy!

1) Everyone, I’m sure, had a fantastic time on Talk Like A Pirate day recently. Apparently, even Forbes.com did. Who says financeers aren’t fun? Here they present their list of History’s Top Earning Pirates. It’s interesting, even if it does take all the fun out of pirates because you can’t get the image of your accountant in an eyepatch and funny hat out of your head as a result…

*hums a long-forgotten Monty Python song… “It’s fun to charter an accountant…”

2) Maughta from JudgeABookByItsCover loves to hate Michael Crichton – and it’s infectious! Courtesy of a link from her blog, I’d like to share with you the secret to instant money, movie deals and/or being a complete tool – Write Your Own Michael Crichton Novel. You know who to dedicate it to…

3) No YouTube this week, because I thought this one had to go in in full-colour image glory. A few weeks ago we brought you CakeWrecks, remember? Well, this week CakeWrecks provides us with gross food so wrong it brings tears to the eyes! The Krispy Kreme burger… part burger, part donut, 100% monstrosity. Hungry?
