“Art distills sensation and embodies it with enhanced meaning in a memorable form – or else it is not art.”

Hi guys! Busy busy week – but did get time to sit back and watch “Harry Potter & The Half-Blood Prince” yesterday, so here’s a review. Actually, an anecdote. Bit of both? Anyway, Mr Liberrydwarf and I went off to see Potter about 3pm, got home at 6. We watch Merlin (season final – want more!) and Night at the Museum on TV, and it’s only when we’re taking our rubbish bins out at about 9:30 when we both realise that although we just saw it, we haven’t really thought about HBP in the four or so hours since it finished. Not even to talk about it on the drive home. And that sums it up, really, doesn’t it?

Hoping this week’s links will leave a slightly more lasting impression:

1) Merlin fanfic. Yet again proving that if you can imagine it, the Internet can do it… and absolutely gobsmackingly surprising that not a single one of these has been rated suitable for anyone under the age of eight.

2) Continuing the Weird and Slightly Disturbing theme (hahaha) – The World’s Weirdest and Most Bizarre Perfumes. Mmm…lobster anyone?

3) YouTube this week – I quite enjoyed the Food Court Musical we viewed back in March: here’s more random public staged singing!

“I restore myself when I’m alone.”

Hi friends!  Apologies – no staff all week means no blogging all week too, unfortunately! And precious little time to waste in timewasting! Let’s redress the balance right now, shall we?

1) Rereading both Stephenie Meyer AND Laurel K Hamilton at once this week – and is it just me, or a vampires largely the stupidest things to ever walk the Earth sometimes? Surely there are some sort of guidelines for vampires around to prevent them from getting squished? Surely the almighty Mother Internet can provide?

2) Why I Am Embarrassed To Be A Librarian, exhibit A. Actually, Exhibits A through Z, summation, case closed. No wonder nobody ever takes me seriously when I swear on my life I can be cool…

3) Finally, YouTube this week makes fun of Brits again (as we so often do!), and this time I think we pull out and polish off the “Honorary Australian” award…

“And finally Winter, with its bitin’, whinin’ wind, and all the land will be mantled with snow.”

Hooray! It’s finally honest-to-goodness winter! Hot chocolate, wearing gloves as you’re driving to work, electric blankets, dragon breath inside the house winter! No snow unfortunately, we’re far too far North, but it’s fun to play pretend!

(Just got a new 50″ plasma and feather doona to celebrate – yay!  It’s DVD-Box-Set-ember!)

Rugged up against the cold, here are this week’s snuggly warm links…

1) Why was Google Earth really invented? Why, to show you all the ridiculous things around the place you can see from the air, of course! Giant Cowboy Jesus Face in the Desert, anyone?

2) Haven’t had any gross food for a while, have we? Here’s a whole bunch… half the time can’t work out whether to drool or vomit, oh dear…

3) Finally, as I struggle with this week’s challenge to learn all the lyrics for “Ice Ice Baby” for a 90’s party challenge, someone said this clip from Jim Carrey would help – maybe not so much…
