Meme Monday: A Bookish Meme

Stole the idea for this meme from Matt. Thanks, a good meme is hard to find!

What book could you read over and over?
I rarely re-read things (got too much else to read!) But if I could pick, and would be allowed a series, it’d be the Game of Thrones series by George RR Martin. I find new levels and intrigues every time I read that series (or what’s written of it so far anyway)

Name a bookstore where you could waste an afternoon.

I love Pulp Fiction in Brisbane city – the prices are good, they have awesome author signings, they focus on ‘genre’ books so they have a better range of the kind of stuff I like, and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable about not only what they have in stock, but what else is out there that they could order in for you. (Plus they have a cute guy working there who loves urban fantasy: what more could a girl ask for? :D)

Name a book that was difficult to read.

This is a tricky one, as I usually give up on things that don’t pass the 50 page test! I remember having a lot of trouble with From Strength To Strength in high-school, but mostly because this book was utterly vile and I hated being forced to read it.

Name a long book that’s worth reading.

The Jackal of Nar – all the books in this fantasy series are 800+ pages, but it was nonstop action, beautiful scenes and great characters, I practically ate it up and didn’t even realise how long it was until I weighed it to post it and it was HEAVY!
