Made it to the weekend – woohoo! And it’s so nice to have some TIME to blog at home!
1) One good thing: I get to see my lovely Mum tonight. She’s down from Toowoomba on a training course, and we’re having dinner with the Horde of Siblings. (I’m bringing the pasta maker over for another bash at it!) It’s also her pre-birthday celebration, since she’s off to Israel (yeah I know) next week and will be away for a month, missing her birthday… let there be piles of gifts and muchly stroganoff for all!
2) One bad thing: fell off my bike on the way to the shops. Watch for pics of massive shin bruises on tomorrow’s blog entry! What’s even worse, is I wasn’t even moving at the time – no, clever me, I managed to fall completely over onto the ground, bike on its side – dismounting to go onto a footpath. So Alberto Contador, I reckon your Tour De France crown is at least safe from me for another year… 🙂
3) One thing I have learned: Last night I finished reading the fourth Fremonth Jones mystery, “Emperor Norton’s Ghost“. My interest was piqued about this Emperor Norton guy: turns out that he was indeed real. In 1859 local San Francisco crackpot Joshua Abraham Norton proclaimed himself Emperor of the United States and Protector of Mexico”. And instead of popping Norton into the closest convenient asylum, the people of San Francisco called him Your Majesty and stuck him on their currency. Which just goes to show, really – though we might shake our heads and declare that all Americans are crazy, they’re probably not: but they do come up with the best kinds of crazy, for sure…
4) Today’s link: I’ve spent the morning playing The Sims 2, so found these “Reports from Sims Child Services” a bit of a giggle (I admit: I have never drowned a Sim, but I did have one set off a firecracker in a locked room to get rid of her…) If @fionawb drops by, I seem to recall she’s a keen Sims fan too: consider today’s link my gift to you, Fi!
