Apologies for no entry last week – everything just kind of catches up with one at once, doesn’t it? I slap my own wrist, with assurances I’ll do better next time – and give you a super-size dose of fun this week to try and make up for it! *Throws links and runs!!*
1) It was going to be first on my list, but since Kalafudra beat me to blogging about it, we can all go and read about the 2008 Bulwer-Lytton Awards for the worst opening sentences of the year from HER blog. Lazy, yes. Generous, sure. Willing to admit defeat and bow to a superior blogger (certainly a far less lazy one) of course. But probably mostly lazy. But that girl does have a great sense of the weird, we at the Liberry tip our hat to her!
2) Now for a news story. And yes, it’s from the wonderful world of libraries, as if we didn’t have enough problems getting people to take us seriously. Helpful hint from Auntie LiberryDwarf, kiddies. If you’re going to write a “fictional” account of all the crazies who patronise your place of employment, try to veil them at least thinly. And for heavens sake, don’t put a photo of your actual workplace on the front cover. Or if you do, have the decency to NOT WONDER why you’ve been fired…
3) #3 this week is, unfortunately, possibly bad news. Bad news for Harry Potter fans anyway. Though to be fair, real HP fans probably have known about this for ages anyway, and I can hardly consider myself a source of breaking news. But it is a bit annoying. It does solve my “See it in Australia or wait til London” dilemma, but does nothing for my “See HBP ten times or see Star Trek 11 ten times” dilemma. Oh I lead such a frying-pan-slash-fire existence!
4) This week we’re playing with other types of video – I’m in a snit because of YouTube disabling embedding for last week’s clip and making me look like an idiot… Anyway, if there is one question you ask yourself every morning, I bet it’s not “Is it a good idea to microwave (insert random object here)??” Thankfully for all of us, these guys do…
