Hooray for politics! Actually, I think people who rock-star-idolise aging Aussie politicians are a bit pathetic, but I’m probably just bitter that I got hit on by grotty Young Liberals at the polling booth and didn’t manage to dislodge my smug local member. Anyways, with the election safely behind us, we can crawl out from under the bed where we’ve been curled up and whimpering the last six weeks, and enjoy some links…
1) Proving for us again that there really isn’t any purpose to the internet except laughing at rich and famous people, it’s the glorious gallery of celebrity photo madness that is “Men who look like old lesbians“. 2) Dragging the Liberry back into some vague semblance of educational-ness… get a weekly dose of delightful trivia (and the accompanying news stories for all you “it is SO true, see here!” needs), it’s the BBC’s “Ten Things We Didn’t Know Last Week” blog…

‘Pologies for the week of silence – yours truly spent a very long day last Tuesday being poked, curled, plucked and stuffed into cocktail dresses for her first (and probably last and only) modelling shoot. Long story. Suffice it to say, fashion people are stupid, but it was quite nice bein’ pretty for a day.

Anyways, now my head’s out of the clouds (though I’m in complete agreement with today’s quoted celebritah, Helena Christensen), here’s some powdered, corsetted, starved and coked-up links for you…

1) From beautiful people (albeit vain ones) to beautiful buildings, the Curious Expeditions “Compendium of Beautiful Libraries” should have you drooling if you’re a bibliophile. Although there are some notable exceptions. The library of the The Royal Monastery of San Lorenzo de Escorial is one. Does the Beast’s library in “Beauty and the Beast” count too?

2)  Possibly the most disturbing thing I’ve ever seen – got some luscious locks but strapped for cash? Bit thin on top and don’t fancy an acrylic rug? Buy, sell or auction off human hair (yes, you heard right) at HairWorks… *shudders*

3) This week’s YouTube clip turns back the pages of time to uncover for you the History of LOLcats… (perhaps hindsight should indeed be the best teacher, who knows…?)

Another week of accidents – this time my car is intact but my poor body is not. Tip: when holding the leash of 35 kilos (75 pounds) of suddenly-sprinting labrador, do NOT keep hold on the leash. Drop it, or get pulled over onto your front at high speed, crack a rib, and spend the next few days breathing like a phone pervert . Oh, and then have said 35 kilos of labrador sit on you while you’re down… owwwwwwww…

Lucky I didn’t break my typing hand though! (Seriously, I type with 2 hands as I’m not 1000 years old like my colleagues. This is important, and goes on my resume. Really truly ruley.) Ack, digress again! Here are some links for this week.

1) Just to prove we’re not just a nation of beer-drinking, croc-wrestling, Minogue-exporting losers, this week I bring you Australia’s very own Power-Charging Jacket. Plug in your mobile phone and iPod into your jacket (into your armpit? That would be intriguing…) and charge them as you walk. Sweet!

2) I liked last week’s Zombies so much (didn’t you? Come on, you know you did!) I’ve been on a bit of a zombie kick. I present to you, so well-thought-out it’s kind of scary, “5 Scientific Reasons a Zombie Apocalypse Could Actually Happen“. Nice to see they link each theory to which zombie movie it’s been in, that’s SUPER scientific credibility right there. Well, it’s only a matter of time apparently, may as well drink lots of red wine now so our brains are nicely marinated…

3) Finally, this week, we turn to Good Ol’ Youtube to prove to ourselves once and for all that animals are better than people… don’t feel bad. Animals just sort of rule.
